mæ has been working with Blue Living on an outline planning application for a substantial mixed use development in Berkshire, which was submitted in summer 2009. We are currently progressing the project through the development of a set of design codes. Pincents Hill is conceived as an urban extension to Greater Reading. It is proposed as a means of meeting housing need - with many of the homes being affordable - stimulating economic opportunity and providing a truly sustainable place and community for greener living and higher quality of life.
Pincents Hill provides a traditional solution to modern challenges; its form, street pattern, mix of uses and homes are conceived according to time-honoured principles, with the additional benefit of improved understanding of and commitment to contemporary environmental challenges and environmental technology. A public square will form the heart of Pincents Hill and will be a focal point for the whole community. The buildings around the square will be designed to be adaptable over time and accommodate a range of uses such as flats or offices.
